Dear STEM Early College Students and Parents,

Welcome to the beginning of the 2022-23 school year! The faculty of Stanly STEM Early College are excited to welcome our new and returning students to the STEM campus located at Albemarle HS and to begin exploring the STEM experience of learning. When Stanly County created the Stanly STEM Early College, they made a commitment to expand the opportunity for you to earn both your associates degree and high school diploma within 4-5 years. Stanly STEM will be collaborating with Stanly Community College to deepen the critical thinking and a problem solving mindset of our students and to strengthen their career and college readiness skills so that they may earn the credentials needed to be successful in the 21st Century. When your student became a part of our early college family they became a part of some of the highest performing schools in North Carolina. The expectation is high that our students will work hard each day, and the opportunities they will earn as a result will be well worth the commitment throughout the next 4-5 years.

While at Stanly STEM Early College, our students will explore careers focused on the Health and Public Services Fields. They will participate in multiple opportunities to explore the STEM fields and will experience a rigorous STEM focused curriculum in their high school classes through collaboration and inquiry based learning which will will prepare them to experience the real life application of these skills through job shadowing and internship programs throughout various STEM fields. As we grow, we will develop community partnerships with local health and human service related government and private companies, which will encourage students to explore interest in these career pathways. Students at both Stanly County Early Colleges can earn their degrees in any of the 23 degree options and pathways available to Early College students.

If you are a current 8th grade student or the parent of an 8th grade student, the application process to apply for entrance to Stanly Early College and Stanly STEM Early College begins in January.
